About Anna Pickett

A Mount Holyoke senior, Anna is graduating in spring 2022 with a B.A. in computer science. Since spring 2021, she has programmed and operated a Kinova Gen3 robotic arm to generate visual and force data to be analyzed with a machine learning algorithm. This NSF-funded research uses machine learning to develop haptic feedback for surgeons using surgical robots.

After college, Anna intends to go into the CS field doing work that includes machine learning, robotics, and software development. She has experience programming in Java, Python, C and C++.

Projects

Medical Robotics Research

Anna works in the MHC Medical Robotics (IMeRo) Lab, researching haptic feedback in surgical robots using machine learning to estimate force data from visual data. In her role, she has set up a Kinova Gen3 robotic arm, and designed, written scripts for and executed 75+ data collection experiments.

Guess Who

In a team of 3, she developed an updated version of the classic Guess Who game incorporating diverse characters based on popular culture as part of a spring course entitled Innovative Software Development and Design.

Asteroids

As part of a team of 4, she developed a desktop version of the arcade game Asteroids in Fall 2020.
